A $2 million federal grant will allow C-Tran to purchase four new hybrid buses, according to the agency.

The grant, announced this week by the Federal Transit Administration, is part of the “State of Good Repair” program that awards money to agencies across the nation. C-Tran plans to replace four of its older buses with the newer hybrid model.

After the purchases, C-Tran will have 20 hybrid buses in its fleet. The four new 40-foot vehicles will cost about $705,000 each. C-Tran plans to use dollars from a previous grant to cover the cost of the new buses, said public affairs director Scott Patterson.

C-Tran’s grant was one of 14 State of Good Repair awards given out to Washington agencies, according to the FTA.
