The Jones Creek Trail Riders Association was among recipients named Wednesday by the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board, which announced 21 grants to improve parks, trails and ball fields.

The grants total nearly $1.6 million.

The Jones Creek Trail Riders Association will use its $20,000 grant to maintain the Jones Creek ORV Trail in the Yacolt State Forest.

The trail system, which is in need of repair due to increased use, includes 15 miles of double-track trail that’s used by all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles, horses, hikers and mountain bikers.

The association will donate $10,000 worth of equipment and labor. The grant is from the federal Recreational Trails Program.
