Clark County commissioners on Tuesday approved updated flood hazard maps and a shoreline master plan.
Affected property owners had been notified of the changes.
The maps were prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The county had to approve the FEMA maps and insurance study so local property owners would remain eligible to purchase coverage through the National Flood Insurance Program, said Gordy Euler, a county planner.
The maps indicate where flood insurance may be required by mortgage lenders and where floodplain development regulations will apply.
Commissioners also approved an updated shoreline master plan as required by the state. The plan guides development along large creeks, rivers and lakes, Euler said.
