Suzanne Smith, academic director for Human Development at Washington State University Vancouver, will also be the interim academic director for the College of Education, WSUV announced Tuesday.
Smith will be responsible for management, planning, curriculum, personnel and facilities in the WSUV College of Education for the 2012-13 academic year.The office of Academic Affairs will maintain responsibility for two areas: Bob Bates will be responsible for research-related needs, and graduate-student support and mentoring. Karen Schmaling will approve and oversee budgets, working closely with Smith.
Smith replaces June Canty, who was academic director for the College of Education for eight years but is shifting her focus to research and teaching.
