The Portland metro area’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8 percent in June, unchanged from May. The year-ago rate was 9.2 percent.
An estimated 96,000 area residents were unemployed and looking for work, the Oregon Employment Department reported Monday. Oregon’s June unemployment rate was 8.5 percent, Washington’s stood at 8.3 percent, and the national rate was 8.2 percent. The metro area added 4,100 jobs (seasonally adjusted) in June, following an increase of 2,000 jobs in May.
Clark County’s June unemployment rate is scheduled for release today.
