Four Washington schools are national finalists for the Green Ribbon Schools award given out by the U.S. Department of Education.

While all four finalists are in the Puget Sound area, two Clark County schools received state-level awards Monday.

Skyridge Middle School in the Camas School District won a state-level award in the category Environmental Impact and Energy Efficiency.

Sacajawea Elementary School in the Vancouver School District was awarded for its environmental and sustainability education.

The awards go to schools that reduce environmental impacts, improve the health of students and staff and provide effective environmental and sustainability education.

The finalists were Camelot Elementary in the Federal Way School District, the Secondary Academy for Success in the Northshore district, Tahoma Junior High and the private Overlake School in Redmond.
