We certainly had more clouds than sunshine the past two days, and the 80-degree weather didn’t make it through those clouds on Wednesday. More clouds are slated today and Friday. At least it felt comfortable with the combination of mild temperatures and slightly higher humidity. I did miss the brightness of summer, however.
We should lose the marine low clouds Thursday and Friday somewhat as that pesky upper low off the southern Oregon coast moves northward. We will have to watch if any moisture from Southern California and old hurricane Fabio gets entrained in our low.
So, thunderstorms and showers are back in the forecast today and Friday before things quiet down, and the weekend at this point looks rather nice with morning clouds and afternoon sunshine, and back up to 80 degrees or so. The coast may stay socked in with low clouds most of the day with only scattered clearing periods. Vancouver is still running warmer and drier than average for July and most likely will continue that trend in the remaining days of the month.
The heat remains in the mid-section of our country after a brief respite. Severe drought covers over half of the nation.
