Nolan Smith had 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, five rebounds and five assists in the Portland Trail Blazers’ summer league game Tuesday in Las Vegas against the Houston Rockets.
But the Blazers guard was injured on a drive to the basket with 42.9 seconds left in the game and Houston leading 99-88. He drew contact on the shot and apparently hit his head on the basket support. He was taken from the court in a stretcher and the rest of the game was canceled.
“Nolan Smith did sustain a concussion, but was never unconscious,” the team announced on Twitter. “He’s undergoing further testing at an area hospital. He is alert and talking.”
Team owner Paul Allen tweeted 10 minutes later that Smith is “likely out” of summer league play, which runs through Saturday.
