A car fire snarled the Friday morning commute on Interstate 5 south.
The fire was reported just before 7:20 a.m. under the railroad bridge just north of the Interstate Bridge, according to Washington State Department of Transportation traffic cameras.
Vancouver firefighters responded to the blaze, which appears to have been contained in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
Two lanes were closed as firefighters responded to the burning 1991 Chrysler New Yorker. All lanes were reopened before 8 a.m., said Trooper Ryan Tanner, a Washington State Patrol spokesman. By 8 a.m., southbound traffic was backed up to past the Main Street exit.
No one was reported injured, Tanner said.
