The Port of Vancouver has received a top communications prize from the American Association of Port Authorities, the port said Thursday.

The port was told in June that it would receive the Award of Excellence, Best Overall Campaign for its centennial celebration efforts. The award will be presented to the port in October during the Association of Port Authorities’ annual convention in Mobile, Ala.

This year, the port is celebrating its 100th birthday since being created by voters on April 6, 1912. To highlight its history, the port launched a communications campaign featuring a centennial logo, promotional materials, traveling displays and a special centennial website.
