Heritage — Frontier Middle School teacher Sherry Petersen and student Lizet Reyes are traveling to Yakima Valley and Mount Rainier National Park to pilot a national program engaging youth in historic places and culture. The Washington State Youth Summit: Connecting Cultures will immerse 35 students, their teachers and mentors in an interactive program July 10-13. Hosted by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, the summit is focused on Washington’s rich Hispanic and Latino heritage and will explore ways to increase visits by under-served populations to national parks.
