Warm weather and the sounds of The Shwing Daddies brought people to Esther Short Park on Wednesday for the summer’s first hourlong concert in the Terry Lee Noon Hour concert series.

A large crowd turned out for tunes. The series runs until Aug. 15, with Justin Klump up next Wednesday at noon.

In addition to free music, the concert series also features Science in the Park kids’ activities, compliments of the Water Resources Education Center, and history in the park kids’ activities put on by the National Park Service.

The Six to Sunset concert series on Thursday evenings debuted last week and runs through Aug. 9. Thursday, Hit Machine is scheduled to play at 6.

There will also be a free movie in Esther Short Park this Friday night. “Jurassic Park” starts at dusk.

Saturdays and Sundays bring the Vancouver Farmers Market to Esther and Sixth streets, and this week there is also Saturday in the Park, which celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
