Camas — The Liberty Theatre in Camas and the Downtown Camas Association will present a one-time screening of “Fixing the Future,” a national event sponsored by PBS and Screenvision.
In “Fixing the Future,” host David Brancaccio of National Public Radio’s Marketplace and NOW on PBS, visits people and organizations across America that are to reinvent of the American economy. The film features communities using sustainable and innovative approaches to create jobs and build prosperity. It highlights effective, local practices such as local business alliances, community banking, time banking/hour exchange, worker cooperatives and local currencies.
The July 18 screenings will be followed by an onscreen discussion panel featuring Bill McKibben, Majora Carter, Mike Brady and David Brancaccio. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is $5 for general admission into the theater at 315 N.E. Fourth Ave. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.camasliberty.com/fixingthefuture.htm.
