Gas prices dropped by another nickel in the past week in Vancouver, with an average price for regular now standing at $3.49 per gallon, AAA Oregon/Idaho reported today.
Prices were dropping across Oregon and Washington, even as they rose across much of the nation. Portland’s average gas price now stands at $3.53 per gallon, down from last week’s $3.60. Oregon’s $3.55 average price is 10th-highest in the nation, according to the AAA survey. In Washington, the average price is $3.59 per gallon, a nickel less than a week ago. That gives the state the eighth-highest average price in the nation, an improvement from last week’s fifth-place standing.
Prices rose in 33 states and the District of Columbia, and increases were dramatic in some Midwest states. Indiana and Ohio led the price hike list with 26-cent increases for the week.
A month ago, gasoline was selling on average for $4.14 per gallon in Vancouver. A year ago, motorists paid $3.76 per gallon.
