More newcomers arrived in Clark County in June than in the same month of 2011, as measured by the number of people exchanging out-of-county driver’s licenses for local ones.
In June, 1,200 drivers obtained new Washington licenses in Clark County, compared with 1,026 drivers in June 2011, according to the Washington Department of Licensing. That’s a 17 percent increase. The statewide year-over-year increase was 19.8 percent. Licensing data are considered an indicator of economic growth.
In the six months ending in June, applications for driver’s licenses in the county was 5,991, down 8.9 percent from the 6,577 licenses issued during the same period in 2011.
