Legislative, Clark utility debates next week

Candidates in the Clark Public Utilities District 1 commissioner race, as well as candidates in two legislative races, will square off next week in two debates hosted by the League of Women Voters of Clark County.

The PUD commissioner debate will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Columbia Room of the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St. Candidates expected to attend are: Jim Malinowski, Julia Anderson, David Campos, Philip Parker, Jim West, Sherry Erickson and Helen Nowlin. Jane Van Dyke will moderate the debate.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the same location, candidates in the 17th District Position 1 representative race and the 18th District Position 2 representative race will participate in a debate moderated by Anne McEnerny-Ogle. Candidates expected to attend are: Republicans Julie Olson and Liz Pike; and Democrats Monica Stonier, David Shehorn and Ryan Gompertz. Republican Matthew Homola has not responded to the league’s invitation.

For both debates, the doors open at 6 p.m., and each forum ends at 8:30 p.m.
