Homebuilding activity increased for the fifth-straight month in June, according to a report issued Friday.

There were 67 new-home permits issued last month to build homes in unincorporated parts of Clark County. The permits were valued at more than $20 million, up from 34 permits valued at $12.9 million in the same month last year, the Clark County Community Development Department reported.

June’s 67-permit total held steady with the 66 permits handed out in May. There have been 271 permits issued in the first five months of the year, more than double the 128 permits handed out during the same period in 2011.
