‘Sheriff Carter’ to kick off Hazel Dell toy drive

Honorary sheriff Carter Harris will be kicking off a Christmas in July toy drive with a ribbon cutting at the Hazel Dell Burgerville.

New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off through July 27 at the following locations:

• Applebee’s: 816 N.E. 98th Circle; 13006 N.E. Highway 99.

• Blind Onion: 9230 N.E. Highway 99.

• Burgerville: 9909 N.E. Highway 99.

• McDonald’s: 710 N.E. 98th Circle; 7010 N.E. Highway 99; 13002 N.E. Highway 99.

Toys will be given to kids and families in the upcoming holiday season.

The drive is being hosted by the Northeast Hazel Dell Neighborhood Association and Three Creeks Community Partners. Sheriff Carter, 4, received his title in May. He has been receiving treatment for leukemia diagnosed in 2010.
