North Salmon Creek — Skyview High School teacher, librarian and media specialist Mark Ray, the 2012 Washington State Teacher of the Year, has been given the chance to help an adult businesswoman go to business school. University of Phoenix, a nationwide chain, recognized Ray with a full-tuition “Teach Forward” scholarship to be given to an aspiring student. Ray chose Andrea Fisk Young, a longtime acquaintance who grew up in Vancouver and now lives in Portland and operates businesses as a golf instructor and aesthetician. She started college years ago, but “life happened,” Ray said; now she wants to pursue her business degree. “I’m a big believer in adult learning,” Ray said.
