Hough — Becky and Bryan Amell have been recognized by their neighbors with a Vancouver Sparkles award for their all their positive efforts — like the way their meticulous newer home blends with the older character of the neighborhood. “Every year, they stage an amazing holiday light display, including lit trees, yard decorations, and a giant Christmas tree made out of lights,” the latest neighborhood newsletter says. Plus, the Amells contribute effort and money to clean up graffiti, to weed and to care for the Historic Hough Neighborhood sign at the corner of Franklin and Mill Plain. Vancouver Sparkles is the city’s community pride award, as selected by members of neighborhood associations.
