“A Taste of Native America: Washington’s First Foods” will be part of Thursday’s Museum after Hours doubleheader.
The First Thursday event at the Clark County Historical Museum, 1511 Main St., will begin with a 5 p.m. reception.
Sam Robinson, Chinook Nation vice chair, will join Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde enrolled member and educator Greg Archuleta, who will speak at 7 p.m. on traditional foods of the Lower Columbia River region.
The Grant House restaurant is providing food for the First Thursday events.
The exhibit “A Taste of Native America” explores the food and related culture of native people throughout Washington. Fishing, hunting, gathering and food preparation remain important skills handed down through generations. Ceremony and ritual underscore the importance of food to native life.
The exhibit from the Washington State Historical Society will include examples of native foods and related items from the museum’s collection.
