The Building Industry Association of Clark County is endorsing Evergreen Public Schools’ replacement operations levy.

Ballots for the property tax measure were in the mail last week. Ballots must be postmarked no later than Feb. 14.

“The greatest way we can invest in our communities is supporting the school districts,” said Ryan Zygar, President of the BIACC. “Good schools not only attract new home buyers but also new companies are more likely to locate in an area that places a high value on public education.”

If the measure passes, owners of a median priced home would pay an estimated $685 in 2013, $698 in 2014, 718 in 2015 and $738 in 2016, according to the school district. This year’s rate — set under a measure passed by voters in 2010 — would be $656 for that same home.

The BIA is a trade association representing businesses involved with land development and construction.
