Boys basketball: Columbia River 60, Kelso 37

The Chieftains scored the game’s first 22 points and rolled to their 16th win of the season, seven more than their output from last season.

Of course, the Chieftains are looking for a lot more wins.

Columbia River improved to 10-1 in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League. The Chieftains can assure themselves of at least a share of the league title with a win Monday night.

Isaiah Smith led the Chieftains with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Rian Bassett added 11 points, and Devin Bolds scored nine for River.

Columbia River’s defense forced 11 turnovers in the first quarter.
