Equality Southwest Washington plans a free public-speaking workshop, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, for activists interested in joining the campaign to legalize same-sex marriage.

The workshop will be held at Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St. Instructors will train participants how to be local spokespeople for marriage equality. The workshop covers talking points, how to share personal stories to illustrate larger talking points, how to overcome stage fright, what to expect at public forums and how to talk to the media and religious groups.

The event is sponsored by Equal Rights Washington, Equality Southwest Washington, Freedom to Marry, Planned Parenthood, the Progressive Majority Action Fund, the Q Center, Washington United for Marriage and the YWCA of Clark County.
