Nick Biron and Jess Moore made Washougal proud Saturday, by walking out of the Roseland Theater in downtown Portland with championship belts.
The two fighters who wrestled together for Washougal High School were featured in the main events of the Full-Contact Federation’s Rumble at the Roseland 61.
Moore captured the Featherweight Championship by forcing Sean Solitz to tap out with a triangle choke one minute, 5 seconds into the first round. Biron beat Darron O’Donnell for the Heavyweight belt on a unanimous decision by the judges.
Going into the Feathweight title bout, the Washougal fans were excited to see if Moore’s Jiujitsu would prevail over Solitz’s wrestling. Solitz executed a double-leg takedown, but Moore turned it into an arm bar. Solitz slipped out of the hold and pounced back on top. Moore then locked in a triangle choke. Desperate to escape, Solitz lifted Moore off the ground for a good 10 seconds before slamming him viciously on the mat. Moore never let go of the hold. He only clinched tighter and tighter until Solitz had no choice but to tap out.
