In response to the Jan. 8 story “Sorrow over gun violence unlikely to prompt change in federal law,” out of the 8,775 people killed by guns in 2010, how many cases involved illegal aliens? How many cases involved illegal drug sales? How many cases involved illegal aliens illegally smuggling illegal drugs?
U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry died because U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the Obama administration allowed thousands of illegal guns to “walk” across the border into Mexico under a major boondoggle operation called “Fast and Furious” so guns could be “found” later and traced back to the U.S. Then they made matters worse by blocking investigation efforts and refusing to provide honest answers to Congress.
We don’t need another law that will only affect law-abiding citizens, cost millions to maintain and provide nothing other than more self-defense zones. Let us express sorrow for the victims and focus on convicting the criminals (including the politicians) responsible for these heinous acts. Please do not attempt to criminalize someone for exercising their God-given and constitutionally protected rights.
