Girls basketball: Ridgefield 35, Hockinson 31

Ridgefield 35, Hockinson 31 — The Spudders held off the Hawks down the stretch in a game in which free-throw shooting made all the difference.

Ridgefield, which led wire-to-wire, finished 10 of 16 from the line, while Hockinson was 3 of 9.

Shannon Boyle had 10 points for the victors including a key 3-point play late in the game to keep the Spudders in front.

Brooke Kates scored eight and sealed the game with two free throws with 5 seconds to play. Beatrice Bremer added seven points.

Katelyn McGuire scored 20 of Hockinson’s 31 points.
