• Jack Kimmins of Vancouver will serve a second year on the board of Antique & Amusement Photographers International. Elections were held during the association’s 2012 Convention & Trade Show in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 2. Kimmins has served on the AAPI Board of Directors and on several committees, including as chairman of the Membership Committee. AAPI is a professional association for photographers and vendors specializing in souvenir photography.

• Veterinarian Sara Sheltren of Felida has joined Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, 13914 N.E. 16th Ave. She graduated from Ross University in 2008 and attended her clinical year at Oregon State University. Sheltren also will be certified to practice veterinary acupuncture starting in April. 360-574-7290.

o Soroptimist International of Southwest Washington will honor Tami Sayles with the 2012 Women Opportunity Award during the Women’s International Day Award Reception sponsored by Soroptimist and the YWCA Clark County. As a young woman in recovery from addiction, Sayles, a mother of three, knows firsthand the barriers and the challenges for women. She is now a student at Clark College. The Women’s Opportunity Awards program was established in 1972 to assist women with primary financial responsibility for their families obtain the training and education necessary to improve their employment status and the standard of living for their families. The Best for Women Awards will be 6-8 p.m. March 8 at YWCA Clark County, 3609 Main St. The free event is open to the public. Register: http://www.bestforwomen2012.eventbrite.com.

New business

• A new real estate company has been formed by Gregg and Sherri White with the intent of giving back to area charities.
