George Fox University senior Keisha Gordon was named the Northwest Conference women’s basketball Player of the Year in voting by NWC coaches.

It marks the fourth all-conference selection for the Heritage High School graduate, a 5-foot-10 wing. She Second Team All-NWC as a freshman and First Team All-NWC in each year since.

Gordon was named to the NCAA Division III All-West Region Second Team in 2010-11, and was a preseason Third Team All-America selection by the website D3hoops.com.

With 1,620 career points, Gordon is 10 shy of becoming the school’s all-time scoring leader, a distinction held by Melody Groeneveld-McMaster (1981-85).

She is already the Bruins’ career leader in steals with 271, and ranks fourth all-time in assists with 317, seventh in free throw percentage at .774, and ninth in rebounds with 695.

Gordon was named the Bruin Athletic Association Women’s Athlete of the Week four times this season, received honorable mention for the Northwest Conference Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week six times, and was the MVP of the Posada Royale Thanksgiving Classic in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The Bruins, who were undefeated NCAA-III champions in 2009 and reached the national Elite Eight in each of the past two seasons, are 25-0 and finished unbeaten in NWC regular season play for the third time in four years.

GFU hosts Puget Sound (13-12, 9-7) on Thursday in the conference tournament semifinals. The highest remaining seed hosts the championship game Saturday, with the winner advancing to the national tournament.
