Issac Bischoff scored all eight of his points in a big fourth quarter, including the go-ahead basket with 23 seconds left as Washougal remained alive for 2A regional berth.
The Panthers will play North Thurston at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Chehalis for a berth to regionals.
Washougal (14-9) appeared headed for elimination when W.F. West took a 51-38 lead in the fourth quarter. But the Panthers would outscore the Bearcats 20-7 the rest of the way.
“Isaac Bischoff dominated the fourth quarter on the boards and with his inside scoring,” Washougal coach Malcolm Estes said.
Mustapha Bah had two driving layups that sparks the Washougal surge in the fourth. Michael McElroy added a late 3-pointer to get the Panthers close, then he hit two free throws with nine seconds left to seal the win.
“We just turned up our defensive intensity and shut them down,” Estes said. “Our kids would not quit. Every time we came to the bench, they’d say ‘We’re not done yet. Let’s go.’ ”
