Mountain View — The Mountain View Math club placed 18th in the Ciphering Time Trials, a national competition, on Dec. 8.
Team members were Peter Lu, Jason Liu, Rohith Nagari and Paul Ueng.
Lu also took fifth place in the nation for ninth-graders in the competition.
During the competition, students solve three problems in three minutes. Each round covers a variety of topics and includes both easy and difficult problems.
