Salmon Creek — A mini-mountain of donated baby clothes sparked a celebration Jan. 26 as Clark County Kiwanis club members met to rejoice over the community’s generosity.
Late last year, five local Kiwanis clubs conducted a clothes drive for Babies in Need, a nonprofit agency that gives a complete layette of baby clothing and supplies to about 25 needy mothers as they leave the hospital with their newborn children.
Hospital social workers identify the deserving mothers and help make the distributions.
The drive was in partnership with North Star Restaurants, which owns McDonald’s restaurants in Clark County.
Kiwanians set up small Christmas trees and collection bins at each McDonald’s location. Customers did the rest.
Linda Herrington of Salmon Creek Kiwanis coordinates the program.
