A woman was uninjured after her car went under a semitrailer on Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard early Friday, officials said.

The crash was reported just before 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Mill Plain and Southeast Chkalov Drive.

Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Joe Spatz said the tractor and semitrailer were heading east when a passenger car went underneath the right side of the trailer and hit the step of the cab, pushing it into the diesel tank.

The impact made a small leak in the tank, and about 4 to 6 gallons of diesel got into a storm drain, Spatz said.

The fire department’s Engine 8 arrived and caught another 3 gallons in a tub and plugged the leak. HazMat and state Department of Ecology officials were called to deal with the spill.

The driver was helped out of the car and was uninjured, Spatz said. Here name was not released because of federal privacy laws.

The trucking company was contacted and will hire a company to pump out the sump in the storm drain, Spatz said.

Police are investigating.
