Girls basketball: Battle Ground 54, Union 43

A big second quarter was the difference as Battle Ground (11-8, 7-4) wrapped up second place in the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League.

Union (12-7, 5-6) is tied with Heritage for third place. Heritage visits Union on Thursday to complete the league schedule.

Battle Ground outscored visiting Union 16-4 during the second quarter to establish a 12-point lead. Nikki Bond scored nine of her 14 points for the Tigers in that quarter.

Tessa Vanderpool scored 16 points, made six steals and had a couple of assists for Battle Ground. Haley Grossman had 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals

Only four players scored for the Titans, led by 20 points from Angelique Williams.
