Camas — Lacamas Community Credit Union challenged its members to cut paper usage and benefit the environment in an electronic statement campaign in 2011.

The result? The credit union will plant 1,000 trees in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy as part of the organization’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign.

For each new online-statement enrollment, the credit union pledged to plant a tree with The Nature Conservancy.

“When we heard about The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign, we had to participate,” said Doug Grout, Lacamas chief operations officer. “Their effort to plant a billion trees around the world in order to restore forest habitats and save our planet appealed to us, and fits perfectly into our 2012 theme of Wellness – Wellness in every aspect of our lives.”
