Salmon Creek resident Helen Nowlin announced Tuesday she will run for the District 1 position on the Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners.
Nowlin has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Washington, a law degree from Gonzaga University and a master’s degree in environmental law from George Washington University.
“Like many of you, I notice when my utility rates increase,” Nowlin said. “As an active member of the community, a bar-certified attorney in the state of Washington and a mother of three children, I feel a need to run for this public service position.”
Nowlin, an environmental attorney, joins Amboy resident Jim Malinowski, a retired utility engineer, in announcing plans to run for the District 1 seat, which represents north Clark County on the utility’s three-member board. Incumbent Carol Curtis said she won’t run for another six-year term.
