Boys basketball: Hudson’s Bay 45, Skyview 42

Making free throws wins games and Hudson’s Bay found that out in the championship game of the North Marion Tournament in Aurora, Ore.

The Eagles made 8 of 11 free throws down the stretch and 22 of 31 in the game to hold off Skyview 45-42 for the tournament title.

“I told the kids, free throws win games,” Hudson’s Bay coach Robert Key said. “And the end of the game came down to a free-throw contest.”

Jomarri Gable was the tournament MVP, recording a double-double in the final with 13 points and 12 rebounds. He also made 7 of 8 free throws.

Hudson’s Bay (4-8) led 13-12 at the half and surged ahead with a 17-8 third-quarter advantage.

Keegan Liebelt led Skyview (5-2) in scoring with 17 points.
