The Chieftains’ rally fell two points short in Longview.
Columbia River trailed by 10 in the third quarter and six with two minutes to play. The Chieftains forced three turnovers in a row, got two baskets to make it a two-point game. But the last shot, at the buzzer, bounced off the rim.
Marion Lilly led River (3-7) with 11 points. Kim Lowery added seven.
Hannah Speed led R.A. Long with nine points.
