Brock Wade hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left to give the host Bearcats the non-league win.
Hockinson did not get off a potential winning shot after Wade’s basket. Wade’s winner came after the Hawks missed the front end of a one-and-one chance from the foul line with 12 seconds to play.
“They just made the big shot when it counted,” Hockinson coach Matt Gruhler said, describing the game as playoff-like.
W.F. West opened the game with an 11-0 run and led 15-7 after one quarter. Hockinson (3-5) was within four by halftime, and led 30-28 after a low-scoring third quarter. Both teams led multiple times down the stretch.
