Mountain View’s Alexander Suk was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of Dec. 3-8 in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Suk collected 48 percent of the 678 votes cast to beat out Prairie wrestler Dallas Goodpaster, who had 38 percent.
Suk won the high-point award at the Mark Morris Sprint Pentathlon, winning the 25 individual medley, 50 free and 25 buttefly and placing second in the 100 backstroke and 25 breaststroke. His 50 free time of 22.59 seconds qualified him for the state meet.
Other nominees included Heritage boys basketball player Tim Hergert, Heritage gymnast Nicole Moss and Prairie girls basketball player Cori Woodward.
