Airport Green — The Vancouver Police Department dedicated a stone and bronze memorial plaque Dec. 5 that will honor fallen Clark County K-9 dogs. The plaque at the Dakota sculpture — named after the Vancouver Police K-9 who was shot in 2007 — includes the names of all county police dogs who have died in the line of duty. Last year, the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Kane was fatally stabbed while attempting to hold onto a fleeing suspect. The memorial is permanently on display at the Vancouver Police Department East Precinct, 520 S.E. 155th Ave. Jean Morris from iQ Credit Union coordinated the fundraising efforts that brought the project to fruition. The plaque was created by Vancouver Granite.
