Bagley Downs — The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington’s annual Holiday Ball brought in more than $204,000 to help support the health care provider’s efforts to give free medical treatments to those in need. The Dec. 1 fundraiser at Portland’s Heathman Hotel raised the money by selling 235 tickets, auctions and a jewelry raffle. The Free Clinic, located at 4100 Plomondon St., funds a significant chunk of its yearly budget through this event, now in its fourth year. The $204,185 raised this month will cover 17 percent of the costs to run what is the largest walk-in free clinic in the state. In 2011, 11,145 patients used its medical and dental programs. Nearly 600 volunteers help provide care and services. “This significant support from our community comes at a time when over 60,000 Clark County residents are without health insurance,” Barbe West, executive director of the Free Clinic, said in a press release.
