RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield football has won its share of games in recent seasons. But the Spudders have been missing an ingredient that usually defines longer-term success in high school sports: continuity.
Dan Andersen would like to change that.
The second new head coach for Ridgefield in as many years, Andersen said he has a long-term vision for the football program in his hometown.
“We want other teams to remember Ridgefield this year as a tenacious team that was disciplined and well-coached, and that played the game to the highest of ethical standards,” Andersen said.
This is the first high school head coaching job for Andersen. An assistant who coached tight ends and defensive ends under previous Ridgefield coaches Kitt Rawlings and Matt Martin, he was hired in the spring after Martin stepped down at the end of his only season as the Ridgefield coach. Martin had replaced Rawlings, who was forced to move to find full-time work following the 2010 season.
