Water park hosts essay contest
Evergreen Wings & Waves, a nonprofit, educational and aviation themed waterpark, is hosting a Scout essay contest, giving boy scouts and girl scouts until Friday, Sept. 14 to submit their own water-themed educational essay.
The McMinnville, Ore., park features a retired Evergreen International Airlines Boeing 747 aircraft on top of the building with four waterslides coming off either side to carry swimmers over the roof and into the water below. The waterpark has a total of 10 waterslides, a wave pool and a hands-on science center dedicated to teaching students about the power of water.
Eight winners from troops based within a 100-mile radius of McMinnville will win a free entry to the waterpark on the date of their choosing. Winners will be selected Thursday, Sept. 17. Find details at www.evergreenmuseum.org/waterpark.
