A Camas resident was injured after he was assaulted by a man with a knife in the parking lot of the Walgreens store in Camas on Sunday.

According to a Camas Police Department news release, Mario M. Pena, 53, of Cascade Locks, Ore., was arrested on charges of second degree assault. Pena is accused of cutting a 29-year-old acquaintance in the parking lot at the 3300 block of Northeast Third Avenue.

The victim called 911 at approximately 12:50 p.m. to report that a Hispanic male associated with a black Jeep had lacerated his left forearm with a knife. When police arrived, the suspect had already left the scene in the black Jeep. A short time later, the vehicle was located by Washougal police on state Route 14 within Washougal city limits. CPD Sgt. Scot Boyles said today that Pena, who was found in the vehicle, was taken into custody and arrested without incident.

The crime remains under investigation by the Camas Police Department.
