What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

With Lance Armstrong stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping, simple logic might suggest that his runners-up from 1999 to 2005 would just inherit them, right?
Not so fast.
The doping-dazed sport of cycling has a logic all its own, and nearly all of the Texan’s second-place finishers had their own issues, cases, admissions or suspicions about drug use or cheating at one point or another.
It makes for no easy choices for cycling’s authorities and historians.
A guessing game has already erupted about who will — or should — inherit Armstrong’s titles.
Pierre Bordry, a former head of the French anti-doping agency, suggested the sport’s authorities should use the chance to send the message that cycling is clearing the wreckage deep in its doping past.
“When he’s stripped of his titles — if they do — from Mr. Armstrong … they’re not necessarily required to give them to someone else,” said Bordry, speaking about the International Cycling Union, which has control of the record books.

So far, we might get our wish.
Seattle Times Seahawks beat writer Danny O’Neil wonders if there is a spot on the Seattle roster for the flamboyant wide receiver following Friday’s preseason game:
“He had another drop, and while it was nullified by a roughing-the-passer penalty, that didn’t change the fact he didn’t hold on. … With Braylon Edwards also playing well, Owens is no sure thing to make the roster.”

Next weekend college football fills the airwaves. In two weeks the NFL takes over.
In other words, it’s time for the PGA and NASCAR wonder where all their viewers have gone despite their own “playoffs” in action (or about to be).
