A volunteer event at Vancouver’s Columbia Springs will remove invasive plants from the 100-acre environmental education center on Saturday. Workers will focus on invasive jewelweed at the property’s wetlands, according to organizers.
The facility invites volunteers of any age to help with the work. Participants under 16 must have parental permission; those under 14 must have parental supervision. Tools and snacks will be provided, but volunteers should plan to bring weather-appropriate clothing and water, according to organizers.
The event is scheduled to last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Participants will meet in the facility’s SWIFT Classroom.
Columbia Springs is located at the old Vancouver Trout Hatchery, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway.
