Gasoline prices continue to climb across the Northwest, with the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline now costing $3.97 a gallon in Vancouver and $3.98 in both Oregon and Washington, the AAA automobile club reported Tuesday.
Those prices were up by about 10 cents a gallon in both states and in Vancouver from a week ago. The national average for regular unleaded went up by less than two cents, to $3.72 per gallon, AAA reported.
The new price set a record for the day, and record-setting prices should continue, said Marie Dodds, public affairs director for AAA Oregon/Idaho. “Even with an anticipated post Labor Day decline in prices, the daily national average likely will continue to set a new record for each calendar day as we head into the fall,” she said in a news release.
