A jogger was seriously injured when he ran into a car at the northbound Interstate 5 offramp at Northeast 134th Street on Monday morning.
Nancy Almo, 69, of Vancouver was driving a 2003 Chrysler Sebring about 10:35 a.m. when she stopped at the 1-5 offramp and then turned right onto 134th Street. Sandor Swartz, 32, of Vancouver ran into the crosswalk, collided with the vehicle and fell to the ground, officials said.
Swartz was reported to be on the ground and not moving, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian. He suffered an open head wound, a broken rib and a lung injury, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Injuries were potentially serious, the WSP’s Ryan Tanner said. He was transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He was in critical condition Monday night, a nursing supervisor said.
The right lane of the ramp was closed while troopers investigated the accident.
