Fort Vancouver National Historic Site will join in as the National Park Service observes its 96th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Families can experience an earlier era by spending the night inside the fort.
The sleepover fee is $35 per person; recommended age is 5 and older. It includes Saturday dinner cooked over a campfire and Sunday breakfast, as well as a tent. Participants should bring bedding.
Activities include crafts, a twilight tour of the fort and a night story session.
“The fort opens to the public Sunday at noon, so campers can be on their own for a while on Sunday morning,” said Ranger Cassie Anderson.
Advance registration is required through Vancouver-Clark Parks & Recreation. Call 360-487-7100 or go to bit.ly/9N5O0N; the overnight session is No. 90049 in the catalogue.
